Safety Measures
Reloading ammunition and handling
powder and primers is inherently dangerous. Just as in
shooting, accidents do happen. These accidents are nondiscriminatory, they happen to
both the novice and the experienced reloader.Dillon Precision has designed all of our
reloading equipment with this in mind. We have shielded the primer magazine and
machined clearance holes for the elimination of powder and primer residue. In short, we
have done everything possible to make your machine as safe as possible. However, we
cannot guarantee your complete safety. To minimize your risk, use common sense when
reloading and follow these basic rules:
¥
SMOKING:
Never smoke or allow anyone to smoke in the reloading area. Never work
with open flames near your reloading equipment.
¥
PRIMERS:
Never force primers. If they get stuck in the operation of the machine, disassemble it and
gently remove the obstruction. Never attempt to clear primers that are stuck in
either the primer pickup tube or the primer magazine tube. Never, under any circumstances,
insert any type of rod to attempt to force stuck primers out of these tubes. Trying to
force primers out of the tube will cause the primers to explode causing serious
injury or even death. If primers get stuck in a primer magazine or pickup tube flood
the tube with a penetrating oil (WD-40),dispose of the pickup tube and call us for a free
replacement. Never attempt to de-prime live primers - eventually one will go off. When it
does it will detonate the others in the spent primer cup.
De-priming live primers is the single most dangerous thing you can do in reloading and can
cause grave injury and death.
¥
SAFETY DEVICES:
Do not remove any safety devices from your machine. The primer magazine
shield is there solely for your protection. Do not modify your machine in any way.
¥
EYE/EAR PROTECTION:
Always wear safety glasses and hearing protectors while operating your
machine. If you don't have them, get them. Failure to do so could leave you blind or deaf.
Insist that anyone else in your reloading area does likewise. |

¥ RECOMMENDED LOADS:
Load only recommended loads from reputable manuals and/or manufacturer's specifications.
Since Dillon Precision has no control over the type or amount of components used with our
equipment, we assume no responsibility for results obtained from the use of such
components.
¥
CHECK YOUR WORK:
Check each round you load. Visually inspect each round as it is being loaded. Load no more
than 50 rounds before a thorough inspection of the finished rounds.
¥
RELOADING AREA:
Components should be safely stored according to manufactures recommendations. Clear your
work area clear of loose powder, primers and other flammables before loading.
¥
PAY ATTENTION:
Never reload when distractions are present, i.e., TV, radio, children. If you are
interrupted while loading, it is especially important to check each and every round in the
machine to ensure that the appropriate operation has been completed before proceeding.
Treat your reloading equipment with all the respect and attention.
¥
BE PATIENT:
Our reloading equipment is conservatively rated. If something doesn't seem right, stop. If
the problem or the solution isn't obvious, call us at (800) 223-4570 and
we'll help you. The reloading bench is no place to get into a hurry.

LEAD WARNING:

is known to cause birth defects, other reproductive harm and cancer. Wash your hands
thoroughly after handling anything made of lead.
